Richard LeRoy Childs

Richard LeRoy Childs, of Ogden, Utah, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2017 at Ogden Regional Hospital.

Richard was born in Cozad, Nebraska on September 28, 1933 to LeRoy Douglas Childs and Martha Ellen Childs (Brooks).  He graduated from Cozad High School in 1952 and later served in the United States Marine Corps.

Richard was married to Orba Ruth Childs (Thomas) on November 7, 1954 in Elwood, Nebraska. They were married for nearly 61 years. Orba passed away October 29, 2015.

He enjoyed gardening, black-powder gun club outings, watching old westerns and spending time with friends, old and new; near and far.

Richard is survived by his children: Roy Douglas (Jeri) Childs, Lehi, Utah; Sue Ann Childs, Lincoln, Nebraska; Terrie Lynn (Bill) Ferguson, North Ogden, Utah; Diane Kay (Bill) Kivi, Elgin, Illinois; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by two sisters: Helen Nazzise, Sandy, UT and Nadine Lynes, West Bountiful, UT.

In addition to his wife and parents, Dick was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Lee Childs in 1984.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Inurnment Service with Military Honors at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park cemetery, 17111 South Camp Williams Rd, Bluffdale, Utah.
