Richard Fred Hansen, 78, of Cove, Utah, passed away on July 14, 2023.
Richard grew up in Layton, Utah. He graduated from Davis High School where he enjoyed playing on the
basketball team there. He married his high school sweetheart, Nita Liston. They later divorced. They had 3
children, Melissa (Guy) Jones, Mathew Hansen, and Amanda (Benjamin) Harrison.
He later married Kathleen Jacobson. They built a home in South Weber, Utah, where they raised their two
children, Kristy and Jeff (Julie) Hansen. They later divorced.
He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He worked and
retired from Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, Utah.
Richard moved to Cove, Utah. Never one to relax, he owned and operated a flower business in Smithfield, Utah
called “Every Bloomin’ Thing.” He grew to love Cache Valley and his neighbors and friends there.
Some of his hobbies include raising pigeons, gardening, growing peonies, playing rummy, baking rolls, reading,
playing tennis, wood working, and napping. He always enjoyed having a grilled hamburger with fresh lettuce
and tomatoes.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a testimony of the Savior. He
served in several callings over the years, one of his favorites was teaching Sunday School.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Barbara Kasteler Hansen, and his brother Conway. He is
survived by two brothers, Steve (Deanna), Randy (Cynthia), and one sister Janet (Larry) Rasband. He has 14
grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be August 19 at 2620 E 8200 S, South Weber, Utah. Open house for friends and
neighbors from 3:00-4:00 pm. Family service at 4:30. In lieu of sending his family flowers, consider sending
flowers to your loved ones.
