Richard Blair Hunt

January 29, 1954 — December 2, 2024

Our free-spirited and loving Dad, Blair Hunt, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, at the age of 70, after a severe COPD episode. He was lovingly cared for in the ICU and under Hospice care at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah during that time. We are so grateful they made his transition out of this life peaceful and comfortable. Family and friends were able to visit and talk with Blair before he passed, which was an incredible blessing.

Blair was born on January 29, 1954, to Kenneth and Wanda Hunt. Growing up, he and his three brothers were very active, especially playing baseball. Blair enjoyed other sports throughout his life, but baseball had his heart. Beyond baseball, he also loved nature, art, and music, which he readily shared with family and friends.

When outside, Blair would often be in awe at the beauty of every tree, flower, animal, and land formation. Being with him in nature was truly special - you could feel him soaking in the energy. And if there were any cool rocks around, it wasn't long before he'd try to balance them in seemingly impossible structures.

He had large, strong hands that served him well in his careers in construction, automotive and government, yet in his spare time he loved employing them to delicately craft pencil drawings. Often using nature as his inspiration, Blair enjoyed sketching gnarly trees, flames, and other abstract designs. He also loved carving wood, from beautiful walking sticks to intricate designs on pencils.

Blair's love for nature and art is something he instilled in his children and grandchildren. They loved making him things because they knew he would really see and appreciate the creative process. They could feel this through his responses and the time he spent inspecting and admiring their work.

Blair was a very proud father of 3 children and grandpa to 8 grandchildren. He had a way of always making us feel like we were enough just the way we were, but encouraging us in all we strived for. His definition of success was to “be who you already are and love it.”

Preceding Blair in death are his son, Zach Hunt; his brother, Kenneth Hunt; and his father and mother, Kenneth and Wanda Hunt. He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Hunt and Jessica (Michael) Doxey; along with his 8 grandchildren: Blair Schamber, Megan Tate, Devin Tate, Haley Tate, Jacob Tate, Will Doxey, Claire Doxey and Sam Doxey.

Blair wanted his body to feed the earth, so he requested that he be cremated with his ashes spread at one of his favorite places, Causey Dam.

Since Blair walked to the beat of his own drum, we're honoring him with a special and unique Celebration of Life event in February 2025. If you're interested in attending, please email jessbhunt@gmail.com for more information.

We love you, Dad, and can't wait to hug you again! Shine on!
