Richard William Shenefelt, Sr.

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Richard William Shenefelt Sr., 87, died Jan. 2, 2013, at McKay-Dee Hospital after a long period of declining health. Richard was born Aug. 17, 1925 at Cheyenne, Wyo., to Donald and Ethel Shenefelt. He was the second of four sons.

Richard married Carrie Lee Whitehead in Cheyenne on Feb. 3, 1945. They moved to Utah and lived in Ogden for the past 53 years. He worked for Gibbons and Reed Construction for more than 30 years, retiring as director of marketing in the late 1980s. He loved to hunt and went on many memorable hunts with his family and friends during his long life.

He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and served in the Knights of Columbus.

He was a founding member of the St. Joseph High School Boosters Club.

Richard is survived by Carrie, his wife of 67 years; sons, Richard Jr. (Joyce) of South Jordan, Utah; Daniel (Tedd), Palm Springs, Calif.; Mark (Jamie) of South Ogden; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 11 am at St Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th Street, Ogden, Utah. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday evening, January 10, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm with Holy Rosary at 7 pm at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
