Richard J. Wadsworth, (Ricky) born August 13, 1965, unexpectedly passed away on December 18, 2024.
After graduating ahead of his class at Layton High School, in 1982, Ricky joined the Army, where he acquired over 20 certifications and specialized training. He eventually felt that the military wasn't the right path for him. He then embarked on a 20-year career as a chef at Olive Garden where he later retired.
Ricky possessed a keen intellect and an insatiable curiosity for all things. His mind was a treasure trove of knowledge, amassed through a lifelong habit of voracious reading and learning. He was a perpetual student, always seeking answers to life's most profound questions. Ricky was also a passionate collector, with a particular fondness for oddities. He was always easy to talk to with insightful conversations, witty banter, or supportive empathy.
Ricky’s thirst for knowledge was unquenchable. He amassed an extensive library and was particularly well-versed in world history, ancient cultures, Greek mythology, Wicca, mythology, and LGBTQ+ history. Recognizing the importance of preserving and sharing knowledge, he donated books, art, and LGBTQ+ related items to Weber State University Special collections for an exhibit honoring him and remembering LGBTQ+ history.
Ricky is survived by his parents, Colleen & John Rowley; brother, Troy D. Wadsworth; sister, Lori A. Rowley Blunt; niece, Whitney “Sage” Simister; nephew, Braydon L.Garcia; nephew, Gage T. Blunt; aunt, Julie Allen; two cousins, Ladia Scott, Terry his wife, Elaine and their son, Dorian Scott; and two great nieces, Octavia S. Waddell and Isabell S. Cavalli. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dail & Lenore Rose, and uncles, Micheal Rose & Jeff Rose.
Our family will never be the same without you. We cherish all of the memories, humor, knowledge, and loving support you blessed us with throughout your life. You will be greatly missed.
Until we see each other again, love you more...
