In loving memory of Riley Todd Johnston.
Riley took his life on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the age of 32. Riley was born to Kimber Ammons and Doug Johnston in Ogden, Utah on December 5, 1992. Riley was raised in Layton and Morgan, Utah with his two brothers and two sisters where amazing memories were made.
Riley was an extraordinary human being with a noticeably big heart and always showed up whenever someone needed help. Without complaint, he put others before himself. Riley was energetic, fun, and loved having a great time. He loved wholeheartedly and lived loud. He had a unique sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. Riley was truly one of a kind; always giving and asking for nothing in return. He was very authentic and chose to walk his own path in life; giving all he had and making friends along the way. He loved to read and write and was always striving to become greater than he already was. Riley loved the outdoors, being on water, and going really fast. His brilliant mind and excellent memory made him a unique intellectual who would never shy away from a deep rabbit hole of curiosity. Riley loved his family more than anything else and would do anything for them. He was the “funcle” (fun uncle) of the family who loved to make others smile and laugh. His superpower was love and he knew how to deliver it in the most obnoxious ways.
Riley was an extremely hard worker who took pride in everything he did. He loved construction, framing, and working on cars. Riley loved working on different projects where his hard work, skills and dedication definitely paid off. Riley received an opportunity to work for Northrop Grumman, which was the job he always wanted. Riley continued working there until the very end. Riley was always proud to live life on his own terms.
Riley was a guardian angel for many different people during his life, and he will be greatly missed. We love you, Riley.
Riley is survived by his mom, Kimber Johnston-Hunt, of Syracuse, Utah; his dad and step mom, Doug and Nikki Johnston of Layton, Utah; his siblings: Jeremy (Bre Johnson) Johnston, Nicholas (Cayce) Johnston, Chelsea (Mike) Eddy, McKenna (Jake Tippetts) Johnston; his best friend, Dave Martinez; his lifelong friends: Jordan Bell, Trey Sandness, and Chris Talbot, among so many others; his step siblings: Tim Hansen, Hyrum Tripp, Ellie Tripp, Beth Tripp and Marc Tripp. He leaves behind nieces and nephews: Eli, Mila, Hayden, Jack, Vivian, and Emmett.
“No more fear. Consider every day a gift. Live each day like it could be your last…own it.” -Riley
