Our free spirited daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2015. Rita was born November 8, 1953 in Ogden, Utah to Mary and Alfonso Vigil.
Rita enjoyed playing guitar, camping, making Native American art work and watching her nephews play football for the Utah State Aggies. She was a loving person and loved by so many. She will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her mother, Mary ; her son, Christopher (Valerie) Barber, from her first marriage to Chris B Barber; daughters, Amanda Leishman (Lawrence Lucero) and Ashley Leishman (Mike Hebdon) from her second (late) husband James R Leishman; her five brothers, Robert (Cheryl) Vigil, Saul (Jackie) Vigil, Paul Vigil, Mark (Melanie) Vigil, and Jamie (Kayla) Vigil; eleven grandchildren and her longtime partner Ladell H Stevenson. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfonso Vigil; grandparents, Luis and Theodora Martinez and Joe D and Celia Vigil and nephews, Mark Miles Vigil and Dion Jeppesen.
Family will meet with friends Tuesday evening, February 3, 2015,from 6 to 8 pm at Aaron’s Mortuary, 496 24th St, Ogden, Utah. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 10 am at St Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th Street, Ogden, Utah. Interment Ogden City Cemetery.
