Robert William Burdick

December 16, 1946 — December 29, 2009

Robert William (Bill) Burdick Jr. succumbed to pneumonia and liver cancer at Ogden Regional Hospital on December 28, 2009. He was born in San Diego, California on December 16, 1946.

His family moved to Coos Bay, Oregon where Bob grew up. He was a graduate of Marshall High School in Coos Bay. After graduating Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965. He was assigned to the USN/WESTPAC, he was a helmsman with the pacific fleet. During the Vietnam War he was assigned as a machine gunner on a gunboat in the Mekong Delta. After meritoriously serving his first tour of duty in Vietnam, he selflessly volunteered for a second tour in the Mekong. He was honorably discharged in 1969.

Upon returning to Oregon after his service, Bob attended Southwest Oregon Community College in Coos Bay. He obtained an Associate's Degree in Forestry. Bob subsequently worked for Butler Enterprises as a ride technician for the next twenty years. During this period he became a "Ride Master" the highest position attainable in the industry.

After retiring from Butler Enterprises, Bob moved to Ogden, Utah in 2004. He accepted a position with Sodexco Corporation at Weber State University as a section supervisor, where he worked until his death.

Bob was a Harley Davidson affectionaire and an active proponent of animal rights. His contribution to the community was well known and acknowledged throughout the pacific coast as well as Utah.

He is survived by his wife Richelle, one son and one daughter, of California, also a sister of Oregon.

Bob also leaves behind many friends and colleagues who will miss him dearly.

A reflection of Bob's life will be held at the Shepherd Student Union, Weber State University, 2115 University Circle, Ogden, Utah, in the Wildcat room from 4:30-7:00 p.m. on January 11, 2010.
