It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Bruce Monson, who passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, in Ogden, Utah, after losing consciousness resulting from a seizure related to low blood sugar. Robert had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 8 years of age and had been receiving dialysis treatments. He was born May 27, 1972, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the third of four sons, to James Osborne Monson and Patricia McLeod Monson.
Robert graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1990. He was an Eagle Scout and served a Spanish-speaking LDS mission in the San Antonio, Texas area. He will be remembered for his laugh, his smile, and his positive outlook.
He was proud of his service and dedication working as a Corrections Deputy for the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office from 1999-2012.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, James Osborne Monson; his mother, Patricia McLeod Monson; and his older brother, Douglas Lamont Monson. He is survived by his son, Robert Weston Monson; brothers, Michael James Monson and Jason McLeod Monson; and his partner, best friend, and love of his life, Jessica Heather Caldwell.
A celebration of Robert's life will be announced at a later date.
