Ronald Lamar Wood

Ronald (Ron) Lamar Wood passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 11, 2025, at the age of 77, in his home and in the arms of his wife, Bernice. Ron was born April 2, 1947, and spent most of his life in Ogden where he graduated from Ben Lomond High School with his loyal friends that stayed by his side throughout his life. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Bernice; his six children: Guy, Sherilee (Jeff), Andy (Erolynne), Troy, Cameron (Katherine), and Chase; his many grandchildren; his brother, Randy and brother-in-law, Frank; and many friends and loved ones.

Ron served an LDS mission in the Netherlands. He told many stories of his time serving the Dutch people and would occasionally dust off the language to impress his young sons. He was a dedicated worker and spent 30 years at Easton Sports serving many different roles. The most important role was as the new product delivery driver to his son during his baseball playing days. Nothing made his boy feel more like a superstar than dad bringing home a new bat or baseball glove and heading outside or to the batting cages with his dad to break it in.

Ron had many hobbies throughout his life. He was a lover of baseball and would visit spring training with his friends. He loved making the trip to Evanston to watch the horses at Wyoming Downs. He played Fantasy football, watched golf religiously, and could bowl a mean strike.

He was an avid golfer and spent many rounds with his best friends, or in his local Men’s Association, and even taught his son Cameron to play and love the game. He loved playing golf and had the perfect temperament for the game and held it in such a high reverence. He was the perfect playing partner to so many and embodied the quote, “To find a man’s true character, play golf with him.”

Late in his life, he received great joy and loved going to the movies and experiencing the newest releases with his son, Chase. They watched many action movies and loved catching the newest superhero releases. 

Ron and his friends would frequently meet at least once a month and go to breakfast. This breakfast turned into a de facto high school reunion where so many of his peers would get together with him and reminisce and catch up on life. The family would like to give a special thank you to all those friends that made him feel so special all those years. Especially Steve Wright and Dan Pierce who were more like family than anything else.

Ron loved being a grandfather and spending time with his grandkids. As any true grandfather would, he let his grandkids get away with anything and would leave his children baffled that they weren’t allowed to do the same when they were young. He truly basked in the life and energy his grandchildren gave him and took great pride in being called “Pop”.

Out of all the interests in his life, nothing made Ron happier than spending time with his wife who loved and cared for him every day throughout their relationship all the way to his very last breath. A true angel on this earth, Bernice was his best friend and life partner through it all. Ron loved his wife dearly and would happily talk anyone’s ear off about her and let you know how wonderful and amazing he knew her to be.

Ron loved to be around people and never met a story he didn’t like. A true entertainer if there ever was one and a man that connected with so many throughout his life. There will be no funeral services; instead, go play a quick 9 holes after work, catch a baseball game, or connect with a long-lost friend to truly honor Ronald’s life.

A great father, husband, friend, and the man that taught me so many lessons on how to be a loving father to my three children. I love you, Dad!
