Rose Garcia Atencio
January 11, 1926 â July 6, 2015
Rose Atencio, age 89, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015 at her home. She was born January 11, 1926 in Alamosa, Colorado, daughter of Juan G. Sr and Cedelia Ruybal Garcia.
Rose married Cecil Atencio February 2, 1943. They later moved with their four children to Ogden, Utah,
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; missing mass only when physically attending became too difficult.
She was a strong-willed woman who refused to give up. She was a loving and caring person, stressing importance on family and faith.
Rose always made sure everyone had enough to eat, especially at her traditional Sunday lunch. She had a good sense of humor and enjoyed playing board games. She would win often without much effort She also enjoyed quilting blankets for her family.
She was loved, and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Rose is survived by one son and two daughters: Angie Millerâs daughters, Michelle Robinson and Christina Miller; Rudy Atencio and his children, Carrie Evans, Dina Adams, Donnelly Tams, and Misti Ashby; Connie (Paul) Burnett and her sons, David Burnett and Michael Burnett; Loretta (Tom) Garcia and her children, Andrew Garcia, Veronica Garcia, Marc Garcia and Luke Garcia; 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grand children. Also surviving are one brother, John Sefe Garcia and one sister, Marie Verna Lopez.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Atencio; her brothers, Scottie Garcia, John G. Garcia, Jr.; her sisters, Alice Garcia, Wilma Garcia, Carlta Garcia, Cira Martinez; her daughter, Angie Miller; her grandson, Frank Miller; great-grandson, James Richard Cragun.

There will be a viewing Thursday, July 9, 2015, from 6 to 8 pm with a recitation of the Rosary starting at 7 pm, held at Aaronâs Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10 am at St Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th Street, Ogden, Utah. Graveside services will be held at Lindquistâs Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd, Ogden, Utah.
