Rose Rukavina Saunders

On January 25, 2017 our beloved, mother, Rose Rukavina Saunders pass from this world into the arms of God and  her family that were waiting for her.  She was born on February 20, 1920 to Eli and Anna Sabich Rukavina.  Rose was the youngest of twelve children. She attended Washington School, which she walked to and from no matter the weather.

Rose married Ernest M. Saunders on September 25, 1940.  They were secretly married for nine months, so Rose could pay off her father's mortgage.  Ernie, the love of her life, died in 2000.

Rose worked at the Union Pacific Railroad Laundry.  She also worked at Sanders Floral, Lizzie Norseth Flower Shop and Klenke Floral.  She was an expert in designing flowers of all type.  Rose loved to dance and taught dancing at St. Joseph Grade School & High School for many wonderful years.  She is a life~long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She belonged to the St Bernadette Guild.  She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and also was a member and chaplain of the Ladies of Elks in Roy, Utah. Rose volunteered at St. Benedict’s and McKay Hospitals and has over 18,898 hours, her goal was to get 19,000 hours.

Ernie and Rose enjoyed camping, volunteering, dancing and had numerous parties at their home.  Famous for their New Yea'rs Eve Parties and  many birthdays and BBQs on their rock patio, their  home was always open for her children's friends to visit.  Rose had lots of love and support from her children: Laura A. Ambrose, Alan P. Saunders (Barbara), Rosemary S.West and Ivan P. Saunders.  She loved seeing her nine grandchildren and thirteen great~grandchildren.  She always enjoyed it when they came to visit her.  Greg Meske makes it a point to-have coffee with Mom every morning, he all ways brings her cookies or chocolate. Which she loves dearly.  

Services will be held on Tuesday evening, 31 January 2017 from 6 to 8 pm with Holy Rosary at 7 pm at Aaron's Mortuary , 496 24th Street, Ogden Utah. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.

Interment  will be at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park., 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Schools.
