Rosendo Martinez

Rosendo (Ross) Martinez, age 91, was embraced by our Lord on Tuesday, May 8 2012 in Clearfield, UT. He was born on August 30, 1920 in La Puente, NM to Jose Benito Martinez and Cleotilde Quintana. He grew up in Northern NM and married Adelaide (Della) Martinez on January 26, 1947 in Santa Fe, NM. He was a member of the Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. His Federal Government career spanned 45 years with the Naval Station and Hill AFB, Clearfield, UT and eight years in the private sector where he was recognized with numerous awards for his dedication to service.

He is predeceased by his parents, wife, sons Gilbert and Robert, sisters Mary Levasseur, Beatrice Burd, brothers Philip, Melicendro (Mel), and a daughter from a previous marriage Rosemary Ortiz. He is survived by his daughters Anita Archuleta, Lorraine Gonzales, Pat (Victor) Otero, Becky (James ) Briggs and son Benny Martinez, who all lovingly cared and helped him through his struggles with Postherpetic Neuralgia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; the birth of his first great-great-grandchild due in August; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel, Layton, on Tuesday, May 15 at 9 a.m. with Father Clarence Sandoval officiating. Inurnment following at Clearfield Cemetery. Memorial service held at Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 S. State Street, on Monday, May 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. for family and friends. Vigil and Holy Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. with Deacon Manuel Trujillo officiating.
