Russell Lorin Sortor Jr passed peacefully in his home on September 7th, 2022, surrounded by close family. He was 62 and remained proud and independent as he took his final ride into the sunset.
Russell was born on November 12, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the fourth of five children to Russell Lorin Sortor Sr and Bula Reed Sortor. Russell was married to the love of his life, Laura O’Brien, on June 10th, 1977. Together they had two children, Brandon, and Bridgett, but didn’t complete the family until the arrival of Gabby on June 10th, 2003.
Russ took his strong hands to work at an early age and worked them hard for Jack B. Parsons Co. for 41 years, proudly supporting the ones he loved. Rusty received joy by watching his children and grandchildren succeed in life and was always eager to attend soccer, 4H, football, or trap shooting events or join in on horseback riding, hunting, or catching fish.
Russell is survived by his wife Laura Mae O’Brien Sortor, son Brandon Cody (Kaycee) Sortor, and two daughters Bridgett Sortor (Justin) Marsell and Gabriella Nichole Sortor. In addition to his wife and children, Russ is survived by his four grandchildren, Adison Marsell, Kayson Marsell, Mason Marsell, and Aemon Sortor. Russell is also survived by his three sisters, Linda Steed, Caryl Hill, and Janet Cook. Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Lorin Sortor and Bula Reed Sortor and younger brother, Ricky Dee Sortor.
In keeping with Russell’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. His passing will be honored by immediate family in a private ceremony at his favorite spot in the mountains. The family wishes that you will remember, celebrate, and honor Russ’s memory. A celebration of life is TBD.
