Early morning Saturday, April 27, 2024, our beloved Seya Gallegos passed peacefully in her sleep. With a heavy heart we share just a few details of the beautiful life she lived.
Seya was born March 18, 1959, in Durango, Colorado and spent the majority of her life here in Ogden, Utah. This is where she raised her 4 children, Margarita Montenegro, Patrick Gallegos, Desirae Holston (Troy Rivera) and Janelle Holston. As well as her sister, Ava Martinez, they shared an unbreakable bond and took care of each other all their lives. Along with being a mother she was our dearest grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind the lives of her 8 grandchildren, Aurianna, Leloni, Vaniecia, Elaijah, MalahKai, Jace, Hunter and Laylah. She was truly the best grandma in the world. Seya is the youngest of 8 siblings and is survived by her two older sisters, Connie Thomas and Tillie Valdez, and her brother Abel Martinez.
In her recent years she enjoyed listening to audio books, keeping up on her shows (and the town’s latest gossip), playing games, and spending quality time with her family. Even if it meant rubbing our shoulders, or napping side by side. As long as we were together, it truly didn’t take much to make her happy.
When you think of Seya, you think of comfort. She checked on everyone and maintained every relationship. The way she embraced us with the warmest hugs every time we entered her room and didn’t let us leave without another. The feeling is something we will all miss more than anything.
She was a very strong and independent individual, who was the glue of our family and cherished deeply by us all. Seya knew how to fill a room with laughter and be a shoulder to cry on. We will forever hold every memory close to our hearts, and yearn for the time lost, but find peace in knowing she has no pain.
She will be missed for a lifetime while she joins her mother, Margaret Martinez; her sister, Frances Martinez; her brothers, Hank Martinez and Robert Gallegos; and her grandpup, Chaos, in Heaven. We know she’s dancing to her cumbias as she once loved and will be with us all as we continue this journey through life.
