Shaun Michael Peat

Shaun Michael Peat was born on March 3, 1967, to Jessie Belmont McMillan and David Peat in Ogden, Utah. He passed away on March 4, 2025.

Shaun was raised in Utah, where he was certified in Okinawan Karate and spent some of his early years in Alaska, where he enjoyed skiing. As an adult, he moved to Illinois where he began a career as a procurement specialist. He loved spending days out on the lake, enjoyed local concerts, and frequently attended St. Louis Cardinals games with friends. He later returned to Utah to be closer to his family.

Shaun loved watching football and cheering on the New England Patriots. He enjoyed live music, riding his motorcycle, and being surrounded by his closest friends and family. Shaun was full of life and energy at all times, always telling stories of his travels and encounters with a catchphrase that would make you shake your head and smile, usually beginning with “I was just minding my own business...” Shaun had a contagious optimism, and a joke to help those he loved through even the toughest moments.

Shaun is survived by his Mother, Jessie Belmont McMillan; his father, David Peat; his brother, David Peat II (Karen Peat); his sister, Vicky Lobato (Ivan Lobato); his sons, Austin, Aaron and Treyson Peat; his daughter, Cheyenne Archuleta; and his granddaughter, Alicia Peat.

Shaun made an impact in countless people’s lives, and he will be missed dearly.

A poker-run memorial will be taking place on Sunday, March 23, 2025, throughout Ogden, Utah beginning at one of Shaun’s favorite local bars “Gig’s Tavern” beginning at 12pm with a raffle to help support his family. There will be a private celebration of life held for close friends and family in the coming weeks.

We would like to thank the medical staff at Ogden Regional Hospital for the care they provided, and Aaron’s Mortuary where Shaun was cremated. We miss and love you, Dad.
