Shellie Kay Perkes June 13, 1964 - January 11, 2017.
Born in Ogden, Utah to Carrie and Clark Eckersley, she was the middle child of three. She was single having been divorced years earlier. Young children and seniors loved her, however, she often said “I don’t relate well to most people, but I never met an animal that didn’t like me.”
Her greatest joys in life were working with animals and gardening. She would spend hour upon hour working or playing with her pets or some stray that just showed up. When it came to gardening she could spend days on end digging in the dirt. It never mattered whether she was planting flowers or pulling weeds. She loved the smell of the garden and the sense of accomplishment. Her favorite place to vacation with her family was bear Lake.
She was a free spirit who loved collecting Hippos, Jewelry, and rocks. She was an avid rock collector. Not precious rocks, just everyday rocks. When she thought you needed a pick me up she would give you a rock. She would spend quite a while describing the significance of the rock and how it would bring the recipient good luck or at least hold down the papers on your desk.
Her true caring nature was shown when she provided the special care to several ageing relatives. Her special talent enabled her to care for both of her grandmothers, her uncle Jack, and her mother during their last several months. She possessed a rare gift and her star shone brightest when others needed her care.
She was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents Holmes and Eckersley, Uncle Jack Eckersley, Uncle Greg Holmes, and her special cousin Traci Angstrom. She is survived by her Father: Clark. Her Son: Devin Clark Eckersley. Siblings: Lisa (Scott) Stegen and Bradley C. Eckersley. Aunts: Marilyn Holmes Cooper (Steve Brown) and Diana Holmes (Jim) Grasse. Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
