Sherri Long Kennedy, 53, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 14, 1962 to Emmett âRedâ Long and Faye Layman in Macon, Georgia. A Utah resident for over 20 years, she returned to Georgia in the spring of 2013 and married her high school crush Kenneth Kennedy, Jr. the following summer. She was of the Baptist faith.
Sherri enjoyed creating jewelry as well as blankets, and was an avid cook. She loved animals, especially her dog Bella. When possible, she enjoyed trips to the beach and walking along the waves with the sand between her toes.
She was a dear wife, mother, and friend, but her most treasured role was being Nana to her grandchildren.
Sherri is survived by her husband Ken, two sons; Randy and Russell Powell, a step-daughter Krystle (Michael) Black, her mother, and siblings; Penni (Mike) Murr, Lisa (Bill) Douglas, Bryan (Donna) Layman, Brenda (Ricky) Churchwell, Sherry Grogan, Joel (Cristina) Layman, and Joshua Layman, grandson Kolven Powell, step-grandson Matthew Black, and 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and step-father Jewell Layman.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Aaronâs Mortuary and Crematory, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah. A private interment will follow.
