Sherry Stephens

March 20, 1949 — May 20, 2024

Sherry Stephens, our beautiful sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend, passed away peacefully in the home of her sister, Kathleen Brown, on May 20th, 2024.

Sherry was born in Ogden, Utah, on March 20th, 1949, to Norman and Margaret Stephens. She attended schools in Ogden, Utah, and graduated from Ogden High School in 1967, after which she attended Weber State College for several years until she moved to Hawaii where she lived for 20 years.

In 1990, Sherry moved back to Utah and worked for many years at Living Scriptures as the executive secretary to the President. During this same time, she was instrumental in caring for her parents in their elderly years.

Sherry was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. While living in Hawaii, she served as the Chorister for Sacrament meeting for several years. Later, she enjoyed serving in the Relief Society Presidency, as the Compassionate Service leader, on the Activities Committee as well as attending the Temple. She contributed much of her time decorating and making delicious foods that came from her love of people and different cultures. She had a true appreciation for the good and the beautiful, which included the wonders of the world. She had a strong passion for nature, the ocean, wildlife, and the night sky. She would often share pictures she had taken of a flower, a sunset or the moon. She loved to share what she knew and had.

Sherry was also a very talented seamstress. She entered many contests and won many awards. She shared her talents and tailored many outfits even until late in life. Sherry was also very musically talented. She played the piano for many years, and she played the cello beautifully!

Sherry was a wonderful neighbor. She had a welcoming heart for everyone, but especially children, who felt safe in her home. Her front room was full of items that all children enjoyed such as coloring books, colored pencils, toys, bubble gum machines, seashells and wooden toys that her father had made. She often sent you home with a gift, whether it was a treat, a book, a pair of shoes or a calendar, her love language was the gift of giving.

Sherry leaves behind her brother, Paul and his wife, Laurie (Bonnell) Stephens, and their family; as well as her sister Kathleen and her husband Paul Brown and their family. She will be greatly missed by many neighbors and friends who loved her and included her in their home like family.

Thank you to those who helped Sherry in her last months of life. She had a village of support and she greatly appreciated you all.
