In 1998, he was involved in a car accident that damaged his liver and eventually severely impacted his overall health. In November 2010 he was hospitalized and fought hard to recover, spending time in various hospitals and care centers. Those extra few years were a great blessing to his family. A highlight during this time was when he returned to his childhood home for Christmas Eve dinner 2012a€"a memory that will be treasured forever.

Steven was preceded in death by his mother, who died in June 2012, and an infant brother, Alan Leslie Belnap. He is survived by his father; his brothers Brian Lee (Karen Palmer) Belnap of Liberty and Brent Jay (Lorinda Goff) Belnap recently of New York City; ten loving nieces and nephews: Michael, Melissa (serving an LDS mission in Guatemala), Ryan, Rachael, David (serving an LDS mission in Peru), Caroline, Christopher, Spencer, Rebecca, and Nathan Belnap; an uncle Joe C.
