Steven Mendez, 57, of Ogden Utah passed away unexpectedly March 13, 2023. Steven was born on April 18, 1965, to his parents Vicente Joel Mendez and Ethelyn (Queacut) in Pocatello Idaho.
Steven graduated from Ogden High School. He was a man of many hobbies, he enjoyed the outdoors with his brothers, family and friends. He loved camping, fishing, hunting and so much more. Steven enjoyed watching sports, he also participated in boxing and achieved golden gloves at a young age. Steven met Sonya Dominguez and shared 2 children. They later separated and Steven went on and later met Angela Manning whom he spent most of his life with. They later had 2 children together.
Steven spent his last years with Dana Gallegos and enjoyed every moment he could get with his kids and grandkids.
Steven loved his native culture and was always drawn to learning the native ways. He enjoyed sharing his culture with his children. Everywhere Steven went he always had a smile. He had a kind soul and humble spirit. A man who could never say “No” and that sometimes could get him into trouble. Always using words of wisdom from his own experiences and never holding back on sharing.
Steven is survived by 4 children Miranda Mendez, Esteban Mendez Jr., Dominique Mendez, and Antonio (Shania) Mendez and 14 grandchildren. He also is survived by his Uncle Roque Mendez, two Sisters Viviana Hernandez and Gina Mendez and one brother Jesse Mendez, many nieces and nephews/great nieces and nephews.
Steven is also preceded in death by both parents Vincente and Ethelyn, Brothers’ Vicente Jr., Carlos and Ricky Mendez, Sister Christina Mendez and 1 grandchild Catalina Mendez.
A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me, remember the BEST TIMES, the LAUGHTER, the SONG, the good life I lived while I was strong.
As you go on your journey we will love and miss you dearly and forever hold you in our hearts.
Funeral and Mass services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church 514 24th Street. Ogden, UT. March 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. following burial at the Ogden City Cemetery. A rosary will be held at Aarons Mortuary 496 24th Street. Ogden, UT. at 9:30 A.M. and a viewing for family and friend at 10:00 A.M.
After burial a luncheon will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Josephs Social Hall (basement) located at 514 24th Street. Ogden, UT.
