It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Raney, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Susan was born on August 13, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, and was raised in Plain City in the home her great-grandfather built. She took immense pride in her pioneer heritage and dedicated much of her time to genealogy, uncovering and preserving her family’s history.
Known for her quick wit and love of making others laugh, Susan had a zest for life that included traveling to new places and nurturing her beautiful gardens, which she tended with care and passion. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, friends, and her many beloved pets. Her deep love for animals was evident throughout her life, as she always surrounded herself with them.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, Carl Folkman; her mother, Viola Folkman (Widdison); and her brother, Tim Folkman. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Pierce; her son, Will Raney; her grandchildren, Nathan Reeder (Kim Pierce), Alexys Raney (Lisa Raney), and Kody Pierce (Kim Pierce); and her great-grandson, James Reeder (Kylee Reeder). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends who will miss her dearly.
Susan’s love, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In life and after life, we will smile when we think of her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 2952 North 4200 West, Plain City, UT. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m.
