Thomas Earl Hunsaker Jr

RIVERDALE a€" T. Earl Hunsaker, Jr., died Friday, February 26, 2010 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

Born March 24, 1925, Logan, Utah to Thomas Earl and Laura Merle Higgenson Hunsaker.

Earl married Enid Olsen 65 years ago on September 26, 1946, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Raised in Logan, graduating from Logan High School in 1943. He received his draft notice the day of graduation and served with the U.S. Army in the radar and searchlight battalion at Guadalcanal and Layte until his discharge in December of 1945.

Earl worked in Logan as a journeyman cabinetmaker and contractor. In 1966, he accepted a position at Hill Air Force Base, where he worked until he retired in December of 1988.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Washington Terrace 7th Ward and served in many callings including a Bishop. He and his wife served in the Tennessee Nashville Mission from 1989 to 1991.

An avid sportsman, Earl enjoyed the outdoors. Fishing, hunting and hiking were a few of his favorite hobbies. Throughout his life, he felt at home in his woodshop.

Surviving are his wife, Enid, of Washington Terrace; his children and their spouses, T. Wayne and Linda Hunsaker, Syracuse; Floyd and Sharon Hunsaker, Oakland, OR; Michael and Teresa Hunsaker, South Ogden; Kaye (dec.) and Lex Larson, Ogden; Linda and Kerry Patterson, Alexandra, VA; Patricia and Steve Wells, Farmington, NM: Rebecca and Jeffery Stimpson, Riverdale; 28 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are his siblings, Merle Bower, Ogden; Marie Barrett, North Ogden; Denise Petersen, Bountiful; Dell Hunsaker, Logan; and Robert Hunsaker, Layton.

Preceding him in death were his daughter, Kaye Larson, his twin grandsons, Jason and Jared Hunsaker, and grandson, Sean Patterson

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 7th Ward Chapel, 300 West 4900 South, with Bishop Dwight Henderson officiating.

Friends may call at the Ward Chapel on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services.
