Thomas Rusell Jordan

October 4, 1926 — November 7, 2016

Thomas Russell Jordan, age 90, passed away on November 7, 2016.   Tom was born on October 4, 1926 in San Diego, CA to Cyrill Russell Jordan and Glenys Gracy Anderson.  He was raised in Long Beach, CA where he lived until 1985.

Tom attended USC where he met the love of his life, Barbara Dyer, on a blind date.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in the School of Pharmacy in 1952.  Tom also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration from California State University Long Beach in 1971.  Tom was a member of the Theta Chi social fraternity.

After serving in the United States Navy as a pilot, Tom married Barbara on December 19, 1950 in Long Beach CA.  Together they raised two sons, Jeffrey Chandler and Steven Graham.  The family spent many wonderful years on their boat cruising to Catalina Island during summer vacations.

Tom was a chief pharmacist for the County of Los Angeles.  He also worked for several area pharmacies as well as owning two retail drug stores in the Long Beach area.

After his retirement, he and Barbara moved to Liberty, Utah to be near their family.  They spent many years in their beautiful mountain home enjoying the various wildlife as they wandered through their yard.  Tom also loved taking his dogs Jessie and Kenai on long walks in the valley.  His kitty Calvin was also a great comfort to him in his later years.

Barbara preceded him in death on December 18, 2013.  Also preceded in death by his younger brother Russ.  Tom is survived by sons Jeff (Jeni), Steve (Chris), grandchildren Codi (Carolyn), Dusti (Candice), John (Sharon), Kate, Grace and great-grand children Sloan, Emeli and Tommi.

The family would like to thank the dedicated medical staff at Mckay Dee Hospital for their compassionate care and support through the years and to Brookdale Assisted Living Center where Tom spent the last years of his life, playing bridge and talking ‘politics’ with his senior friends.

At Tom’s request, there will be no funeral services.  His family will gather at the Rainbow Gardens in Ogden to celebrate “Pops” at a later date.
