Thomas Joseph Young

Thomas Joseph Young, 61 of Pleasant View, Utah, unexpectedly passed away at his residence the second week of June in 2024.

Tom was born on July 16, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio to parents, Arthur Peck and Norma Jean Rownd Young.

Tom loved his “January Jaunts,” hiking, snowshoeing, and camping with his buddies. He relished being outdoors and in nature all year long. He adored his grandchildren and their outings to Lagoon Amusement Park, the beach & Disneyworld in Florida, canoeing at Pineview Reservoir and playing “pass” with Sandler. Tom also enjoyed playing pool, and he was in a few leagues.

Tom graduated from Bishop Watterson in 1980 and continued his education at THE Ohio State University obtaining his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1986 always joking that he was on the 6-year plan. He had many jobs starting with Big Bear Grocery, Thermodisc, Hernandez Engineering Inc, and he retired from Thiokol/Northrup Grumman in June of 2019. Shortly after retiring, Tom started volunteering for the Brigham City Meals on Wheels where he loved his clients and all the people there.

Tom is survived by his spouse Tracy Dale; one child, stepson William (Traci) Ehrick, granddaughter Gracie Faye and grandson William Sandler of Ohio; and four siblings, brother Robert (Roberta) Young of California, sister Margaret (David Lister) Young of California, brother John (Jean) Young, and nephews Aaron and Garrett of New Mexico, sister Rebecca (George) Kaffezakis and their children Naiki and Jenny of Georgia. Tom was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Allison Jeanne Bright Ehrick.

A memorial service/celebration of life is being planned to take place in his home state of Ohio, Sept 7th at Noon, Whetstone Park of Roses, Pavilion 1 (Entrance), Columbus, Ohio.
