Toribio Zacarias Valdez
On June 14, 2015 heaven gained another angel, Toribio Zacarias Valdez was taken home by his beloved wife Carolyn and his two sons Mark and Joey. He was born April 4, 1942 in Del Norte , Colorado to Esmiria Mary and Antonio Roberto Valdez. He was the seventh of 13 children. Although he left us suddenly we are comforted in knowing he has been reunited with his family.
Toribio was well known around Ogden for his natural talent of fixing and painting cars. One thing he enjoyed doing most was spending time with his great-grandkids Richie, Alexiya, Janessa, and Adellina Joy. He tried to take at least one of them to church with him on Sunday mornings. He always greeted people with a smile and open arms. He was one of the strongest men many people have ever met, due to his struggles that were thrown his way and how he continued to strive with his faith and love for us all. He will truly be missed by all that knew him. Toribio was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He always made sure to greet and shake everyone’s hand on Sundays.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Micky) Candia; his grandkids, Mysti, Joseph, LaRae, Ricky, Steven(Vanessa), Jessica and Lelani;, and 11 great-grandkids; six brothers, Raymond (Evelyn), Eugene , Roger(Guillermina), Charlie, Junior, and Michael; three sisters, Gertrude(Albert)Cordova, Catherine Hunter, and Lucy Wickel; daughter-in-law, Esther Arredondo; and several nieces and nephews.
Toribio was preceded by his wife Carolyn; his sons, Mark and Joey; parents; and his siblings, Genevieve, Richard , and Albert .
His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Ogden Regional Medical Center for having so much compassion, and for everything they did for him.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10 am at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 4050 S 3900 S, West Haven, Utah. A Viewing will be held on Thursday evening, June 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm with Holy Rosary at 7 pm at Aaron’s Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
