November 15, 1943 – September 6, 2016
Val Clark Dodge, Harry and Martha's bouncing baby boy, passed away on September 6, 2016 at home surrounded by his family and loved ones after a long battle with lung cancer.
Val was born on November 15, 1943 to Harry R. Dodge and Martha Aileen Christiansen Dodge in Ogden, Utah.
Val lost his mother when he was only seven years old. At the age of nine Val was selling the Ogden Standard Examiner newspaper, he called it the Exaggerator, and shinning shoes to help put food on the table. His early exposure to work helped make him the best salesman around. Val owned Val's House of Hardtops in Ogden, worked for The Cutrubus dealership, then went on the work outside sales for Manheim Auction in California, from which he retired.
Val joined the Navy in 1960 at the age of seventeen with five of his buddies. He loved the Navy life and proudly served for six years on the USS Lyman K. Swenson DD 729. He married Pamela Miller of El Monte, they had three beautiful girls, and were later divorced.
Val loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping, especially with his grand kids. He was a member of the Ogden Gun Club where he served as president for many years.
