Eddie Hoffenbeck, 86, passed away in Ogden of natural causes on February 20, 2016.  Eddie was born Vernon Edwin on January 11, 1930 to Vernon Edwin and Margaret Anderson Hopfenbeck.  He grew up in post-World War II Washington Terrace housing and graduated from the old Weber High School.  He was an outstanding athlete excelling  in baseball, track and field, and basketball and led the school to the state basketball championship.

Eddie proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict at Mountain Home Idaho as an Air Traffic Controller.

He married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Russell in 1948.  They had three children, Vicki Moore, Robin Hayman (Rick), and Ed Hoffenbeck.  Eddie retired from the Defense Depot Ogden where he worked as a printer for the Air Force.

Eddie is survived by his children; his grandsons, David Madden, James Moore, and Patric Delquadro; his great-granddaughter, Lila Jane Madden; and his brother, Don Hopfenbeck (Juanita).

He is preceded in death by his wife who passed away in 2004; his two brothers, Ron and David; and his parents.

The world has lost one of the truly good guys.  Eddie was very generous and loved his family dearly.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and kept everyone laughing at him and with him.  

He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, especially with his three grandsons.

Graveside services will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 at 11 am at the Utah Veteran’s Memorial Park, 17111 South 1700b West, Bluffdale, Utah 84065.
