                                                                        VerVene Frandsen Smith

                                                             August 23, 1921 – February 1, 2016

Our loving mother, sister, grandmother, & great-grandmother, VerVene Frandsen Smith, 94, returned home to her loving Savior February  1, 2016, at Peachtree Place Assisted Living.  VerVene

was born on August 23, 1921 in Ogden, Utah to Samuel Martin Frandsen and Mabel Robinson.

She attended Ogden High School from 1937-1939. She worked at the old Dee Hospital and at McKesson & Robins in Ogden, Utah, while waiting for her future husband, Glen, to return from the war. She wrote a letter to him every day while he was gone.

She married her sweetheart, Glen Jensen Smith, on January 30, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple.

VerVene and Glen raised three children; Sherry, Vicki, and Gaylene. They were together for 67 wonderful years. Glen passed away in November of 2013.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Riverdale 4th Ward and before that in the Ogden 57th Ward. She served in many church callings including:  Primary Teacher, Home Making Leader, Visiting Teacher, Ward Missionary, and Temple Worker at The Ogden Temple.  She loved to quilt and put many quilts together for the sisters to work on.

She loved to sew and made many arts and crafts for the Bazaars to support the ward budget. One

of her other  favorite hobbies was making pies. She was always making pies to share with others.  She loved to cook for her family.  She and Glen loved to go fishing. She always caught the most fish and was quite the fisherwoman. She also enjoyed reading good books and watching good movies.

We as a family would like to thank the many care givers and Medical staff at both the George Whalen Ogden Veteran’s Home, and Peachtree Place where Mom stayed for the last two years. We would also like to thank Hospice for Utah for their loving care.

VerVene was preceded in death by her sweet daughter, Sherry and her loving husband, Glen Smith.

She is survived by Yvonne Jensen (sister);  her daughters, Vicki (Bill) Mamales and Gaylene (Kevin) Pitchford; as well as six grandchildren, twelve great -grandchildren and two great-great -grandchildren.  She was a great example to everyone and she will truly be missed. We love you!
