Vicente Joel Mendez

Vicente Joel Mendez, 77 passed away with his family near on September 21, 2016. He was born March 31, 1939 to Vicente and Viviana Mendez in McAllen, TX. He is survived by his brother Roque Mendez.

After serving in the Korean war he moved to Utah where he met and married Ethelyn Queacut. They had 8 children: Vicente, Viviana, Carlos, Steven, Jesse, Ricky, Christina, and Georgina, 18 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren. He was a loving and generous man. After the death of his daughter, he made a sacrifice and raised three of her children. Felicia (Tony) Bustos, Anthony Mendez, and Felix Babington.

He always had a full house surrounded by friends and family. He enjoyed being with his family, fishing, hunting, and anything to do with the outdoors.

Vicente is preceded in death by wife;  his parents; brother and sister, Antonio and Guadalupe; his children:Vicente, Carlos and Christina; and great-grandchild, Francis St’Pierre.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10 am at St Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St, Ogden, Utah.  A viewing will be held Thursday evening, September 29, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm with Holy Rosary at 7 pm at Aaron’s Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, UT

Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery.
