Virginia Marie Becker, known affectionately as âThe Geezerâ to friends and family, died Wednesday, Marc h 3, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 16, 1918 to Rose and Peter Rossi and grew to be a passionate Brooklyn Dodger fan. Nevertheless, in 1940 she married Arthur J. Becker of Jersey City, who was an ardent Yankee fan. Somehow, the mixed marriage survived for more than 60 years until Arthur died in 2001. She lived through the Great Depression, WWII and the â60s and never lost her sunny outlook on life.
She is survived by her son, Robert, of Ogden, and three grandchildren: Matthew of Biloxi, MS; Deborah of Ogden; and Christopher of Rutland, VT; and by one great-grandchild, Deborahâs son, Aidan, now 3.
After cremation, her remains will be buried next to her husband, as she wished, in Port Hudson National Cemetery in Louisiana.
The family will be receiving visitors on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Aaronâs Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
