With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Walter Eartis Jackson, who departed this life on November 25, 2024, at the age of 63.
Walter was a devoted father, eternally loving husband, cherished brother, and a steadfast friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to faith, family, and service.
Born on December 1, 1960, in Venice, California, Walter grew up in a community that fostered his creativity, determination, and love for life. As a young man, he answered the call to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicating himself to sharing the gospel and touching hearts of many during his Jackson Mississippi mission. This period of service deeply shaped the man he became, instilling in him a lifelong commitment to kindness, generosity, and faith. Walter poured his heart into everything he did.
He was the proud owner of Back Country Landscaping, a business he built from the ground up with vision and hard work. His passion for landscaping was more than a profession—it was a way to create beauty and bring joy to others. His artistry transformed outdoor spaces into peaceful retreats, a reflection of his own calming and steadfast presence.
Beyond his work, Walter was a man of many talents and passions. An accomplished drummer, he found rhythm and solace in music that echoed his vibrant and energetic spirit. He loved the simplicity and wonder of the great, spending countless hours camping under the stars and finding joy in flying remote-controlled airplanes. These hobbies mirrored his adventurous soul and his love for the small, meaningful pleasures in life. Walter’s greatest pride and joy was his family.
He is survived by his beloved children: Anthony of Kaysville, Utah, Nolyn of Houston, Texas, Ciara of Pocatello, Idaho; and his eternal companion, Charyl Polk Jackson of Pocatello, Idaho. Who will forever carry his love, wisdom, and strength in their hearts. Walter was one of six siblings and leaves behind his cherished brothers and sisters—Sharmaine, Mike, Mark, Eric, and Karen—who shared a lifetime of laughter, love, and unbreakable bonds.
His legacy is one of unconditional love, unwavering faith, and a life lived with purpose and grace.
A celebration of Walter’s life will take place on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Rock Chapel 25 South 200 East in Kaysville, Utah. The viewing will take place from 10 to 10:45 a.m. and services will begin at 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for the remarkable man who blessed their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that flowers be sent to the Rock Chapel at 9 a.m. on Friday morning.
Walter Eartis Jackson was a man of deep faith, boundless love, and extraordinary kindness. He enriched the lives of all who knew him with his laughter, his wisdom, and his heart. Though his absence leaves a void that can never be filled, his memory will continue to inspire and uplift those he leaves behind. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
