WENDELL TERRY BOMAN (1939-2017)

Wendell Terry Boman, was known as Terry by his family and friends.  He passed away on May 3, 2017 in his home in Ogden, Utah, at age 77, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was surrounded by his family and many friends throughout his last months.

His parents were Wendell Hendricks and Verneice Roskelley Boman.  Terry was born in Logan, Utah on September 22, 1939.  He grew up in Ogden, Utah In 1954 he moved to Evanston, Wyoming with his mother, stepfather (George W. McNeel who worked for the Union Pacific Railroad) and his younger sister (Laura Lee).

Terry was a student at Evanston Junior and Senior High Schools.  He took part in extracurricular activities including track, football and wrestling. He worked at the Whirl Inn Café and at the Wyoming Highway Department.  In addition, he served in The Wyoming Guard.

In Evanston he met Gloria Lacey and they were later married.  A year later they moved to Ogden, Utah.  They were blessed with seven healthy children: Rick, Rodney, Randy, Ryan, Rich, Julie and Wendy.  In addition they had nineteen grand-children and ten great grandchildren.

His primary employer was the Bakery and Confectionary Union, where he worked long hours to support his large and growing family. When not working he loved coaching his children and later grand children in a variety of sports including: baseball, football, basketball and skiing. He also happily attended and cheered them on at the games they played in public.  Mr. Boman also attended most of the plays, music and dance concerts that his children and grandchildren were involved in.  He always liked Country-Western music and shared this interest with his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, and son-in-law (Ahmed Rashid).  Terry is survived by all of his children, great-grandchildren, former wife and sister.

A Memorial Service will be held  Memorial Day on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 12 pm (noon) with a reception and luncheon immediately following at the Nordic Valley Ski Resort, 3567 Nordic Valley Way,  Eden, Utah 84310.
