William Angus (Gus) Berlin

April 7, 1959 — February 14, 2018

William Angus “Gus” Berlin, 58, of Ogden, Utah, passed away at his home, Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

Gus was born to Milton Heiner Berlin and Reta Anderson on April 7, 1959 in Ogden, Utah.  He was the youngest of seven beloved siblings.

Gus graduated from Weber High School in 1977 and worked at the family restaurant, the Mansion House Dining Room. Within those walls, Gus surrounded himself with people he loved. He was the center of lifelong bonds that were made over hard work. Gus later took over the restaurant and spent countless hours in the kitchen cooking some of the finest meals Ogden has ever known. As an executive chef, he took his talents to many fine establishments in Utah.

Outside of the kitchen, Gus could always cook up a good joke. He never meant to be, but he was always the life of the party. He had a fine ear for good music and wherever he lived, he let his neighbors know it. To watch the passion he had for his revered Minnesota Vikings, was more thrilling than the game itself. Gus’ presence and smile lit the room. More than a son, brother, uncle, nephew; more than a cousin, grandpa or father, he was a dear, dear friend.

Gus was endowed in the Ogden, Utah Temple on February 2, 2013 and was currently serving as the Elders Quorum President at the Manor Branch in the Ogden Utah East Stake.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 24, 2018  at the Ogden City Cemetery, 700 East 20th Street, Ogden, Utah.

Gus is survived by his son, Benjamin Angus (Alicia) Berlin and his daughter, Page Balaich; his siblings: Bonnie (Dan) Rhodes, Lonna (Richard) Sorensen, Jaynie (Wayne) Rossi, Nancie (Jethro) Watson, Susan (Lynn) Green, and Milton Daniel Berlin; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
