William M. Lyons
William “Bill” Lyons, age 65, of Ogden, Utah, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at home with his loving wife Barbara at his side.
Bill was a veteran of the US Navy and served as a plane captain aboard the USS Kennedy, USS Shangri- La, and the USS Saratoga. After an honorable discharge Bill moved back to Long Island, NY to raise a family. He worked for several years with Grumman Corporation in Calverton, LI, NY. While living on Long Island, Bill joined the Ridge Fire Department, where he served for 15 years. Bill rose through the ranks and served as Fire Chief in 1982 and 1983. He was later elected as a Fire Commissioner and served as Chairman of The Board of Fire Commissioners for Ridge Fire District. Bill later moved with his family to Palmdale, Ca., where he worked with the Northrop-Grumman Corporation. Bill was transferred to Ogden, Utah a few years later, where he retired and enjoyed retirement and driving across country visiting family and friends with his wife Barbara.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, three sons: James (Luciana) of Jacksonville, NC; Sean (Vinescia) of Palmdale, Ca; Ron (Lindsay) of Santa Clarita, Ca; four grandchildren: James , Addicus, Anthony, and Zoe; two brothers, Patrick (Faith) of Belmont, NY, and James (Diane) of Oakdale, NY.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Frances Buell of Long Island, NY.
