William Dale Wightman

June 20, 1932 — April 15, 2014

Bill was born to William Dewey and Josephine Wightman on June 20, 1932 in Los Angeles, California. Bill passed away of Alzheimer’s, April 15, 2014. 

The family moved to Provo when Bill was 2 years old. He loved to play the Clarinet in the marching band and graduated from Provo High in 1951. 

He enlisted in the US Air Force and served as a tele-type operator in Thule, Greenland during the Korean War. After his service he went to work for Sperry-Univac for 10 years. He then worked at Hill AFB while earning a Batchelor’s Degree in Logistics, retiring after 30 years. 

He met his wife Barbara Square Dancing marrying her on April 09, 1976, the day before Easter. They spent 38 happy years raising a family of 5 children. 

Bill and Barb were involved in the Masonic Fraternity where Bill was a member of Golden Spike Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the El Kalah Shrine Temple. Bill was Worthy Patron of Queen Esther Chapter #4 five times. Bill and Barb took cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexican Rivera and several states in the USA. 

He is survived by his sister Nancy McDowell, wife Barbara, children Teressa Davis (Larry), Richard Oakley(Michelle), Gary Oakley (Dawn), Stephen Oakley, Janet Farr, 20 grandchildren, and 16 Great-Grand Children.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11 am at Aaron’s Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
